Scholarships and Awards

*The 2017 applications for graduating seniors, along with the criteria for each, are now available online under the Forms & Downloads section to the right. All scholarship applications must be postmarked by Friday, March 10, 2017. Please direct any questions to Mitch Small msmall@lhsaa.org.

Each applicant must show ample evidence that he/she is capable of succeeding at the college level (must send a copy of the high school transcript, GPA, rank in class, ACT, or SAT scores). There will be no discrimination as to sex, race, creed or nationality. These scholarships, in addition to other grants or financial aid such as scholarships, loans, grants or work-study cannot exceed the total cost of the educational expenses for one school year.

Allstate Sugar Bowl

Allstate Sugar Bowl awards ten (10) $1,500 scholarships to student-athletes who have earned at least a 3.5 GPA and at least a 24 ACT score.

Fuzzy Brown

James E. “ Big Fuzzy” and Ellis A. “Little Fuzzy” Brown award two (2) $1,500 scholarships to student-athletes attending a university in the state of Louisiana.

LHSCA

The Louisiana High School Coaches Association awards four (4) $1,000 scholarships to qualified and deserving high school graduates; two males and two females. All applicants must be the son, daughter or legally adopted child of a member of the LHSCA. All applicants must be nominated by a current or past member of the LHSCA, and applications must be signed by current school Principal. Said member must have belonged to the LHSCA for the 5 years just prior to the submission of the scholarship application. Children of deceased members are eligible to apply if member belonged to the LHSCA for five years just prior to death. Follow this LINK for the application.

Note:  The above-listed scholarships are only for student-athletes who participate in LHSAA sanctioned sports.  Cheerleading is not classified as an LHSAA sanctioned sport.
