BATON ROUGE, LA (Oct. 10, 2013) — The Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) announced earlier this week that it has released a free, mobile smartphone application – or “app.” The LHSAA along with app sponsor, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana, worked in conjunction with Envoc design services to produce the organization’s first-ever mobile phone app for its many fans and supporters.
The LHSAA app presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana is free and now available for download through the App Store in Apple’s iTunes or on your mobile Apple device. It features game scores and locations complete with directions, schedules and other pertinent school information for its LHSAA member schools in the sports of football, volleyball, boys’ and girls’ basketball, softball and baseball.
“The LHSAA is thrilled to partner with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana to provide yet another communications tool for our fans across the state to connect with us and keep abreast of the many happenings of our organization,” said Kenny Henderson, the LHSAA’s executive director.
Future LHSAA app updates include:
• Favorite filters on all tabs
• iOS7 compatibility
• Links to Facebook/Twitter
• My Account tab which includes: custom signup and login, forgot password, manage account, static pages
• Push notifications
• Nearest me filter on the schools tab
• Member login capabilities for uploading scores
• Brackets display/tab
• School icons/photos on school information pages
• Emergency alerts
• Training videos
• LHSAA news tab
According to Envoc Developer Kyle Joiner, “Envoc loved working with LHSAA! As a longtime client, it was exciting to help them usher their organization into the Mobile Age. LHSAA's app benefits local schools, principals, coaches, athletes and fans alike receive the up-to-date information they need about games, scores, and schedules.”
Blue Cross President and CEO Mike Reitz commented, “We’re excited to partner with the LHSAA in providing this app and proud to support the young athletes of Louisiana. These young men and women are great examples of what can be achieved with a healthy foundation.”
The LHSAA app includes only scores and schedules from football, volleyball, boys’ and girls’ basketball, softball and baseball because it mandates regular season information gathering due to power rankings in these sports.
