Baton Rouge, LA (August, 24, 2011) – This school year, the Louisiana High School Athletic Association is proud to unveil our “Beyond the Game” Sportsmanship Program—an opportunity for our member schools, student-athletes, coaches and fans to become more active and involved in applying the values of sportsmanship during an event and within their communities. “Beyond the Game” is a multi-faceted campaign and a call to action with a number of components to pique student involvement, create promotional opportunities for the Association and, most importantly, to help us spread the message that sportsmanship is an integral part of athletics and life.
The program will contain a number of activities, including essay and public service announcement contests, monthly sportsmanship features for media and viral distribution, a spirit of sportsmanship award for schools, and much more. Up-to-date information about the program can be found on the new LHSAA website at www.lhsaa.org under the “Schools” tab in Sportsmanship.
For some time, the Louisiana High School Athletic Association has adopted the slogan “Beyond the Game” to highlight the variety of ways interscholastic athletics affects our student-athletes, our schools and our communities aside from competitions. These include, at the core of everything, our principal values of sportsmanship and fair play, and though over the years we’ve seen prime examples of sportsmanship at its best and what sportsmanship should mean to everyone affiliated with high school athletics.
We are excited about this new opportunity for students, coaches, schools, fans and communities to be recognized for all that you do to promote sportsmanship. Please help us make this program a success by getting involved today and Go… Beyond the Game!
