Gear up for week six of the Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Thursday Night Football Game of the Week
Last week’s Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA game of the week featured a 7-3A district matchup between two Baton Rouge rivals: the Parkview Baptist Eagles and the University Lab Cubs. The first half was dominated by the Cubs, as they led 20-6 with just under a minute remaining in the half. The Eagles managed to trim the lead to seven just before halftime after a 24 yard fumble recovery was returned for a touchdown by junior Kobi Miller. Despite three turnovers, Cubs senior quarterback Tanner Lawson threw for 230 yards and two touchdowns, and sophomore running back Derrick Graham rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown to push the Cubs to a 34-20 victory over the Eagles.
Heading into week six, the Ouachita Christian Eagles (4-1) will travel to Ruston to take on district rival Cedar Creek Cougars (4-1) in the Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Thursday Night Football Game of the Week. Both teams enter this 2-1A district matchup with only one loss on the season. The division leading Eagles, led by QB Hunter Herring, face a tough task against the Cougars, led by QB Brooks Auger. Expect a high scoring game from these high powered offenses, as both teams won their respective games last week by a combined margin of 93-6.
