NFHS Offers Three New Online Education Courses

Posted: 02-21-2012 | Categories: LHSCA, Coaches

The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) is offering three new online coach education courses – Creating a Safe and Respectful Environment, Fundamentals of Coaching Golf and Strength and Conditioning. The courses are now available on the NFHS Coach Education Web site at www.nfhslearn.com.

Creating a Safe and Respectful Environment is a one-hour course that presents content on abusive situations (sexual harassment, emotional and verbal abuse), hazing and bullying (including cyber-bullying), and how the Internet and technology play a role in all of these situations. The coach is provided data on the extent of these problems as well as guidance on the role he/she must play to protect the health and safety of students.

The Fundamentals of Coaching Golf course was developed in collaboration with the PGA of America. This is a great course that discusses how to coach the golf swing, prepare for practice and many other aspects of golf such as putting, chipping, sand play, golf course management and etiquette of golf.

Finally, the Strength and Conditioning course will help coaches understand the principles of conditioning and how to maximize performance and minimize the risk of injury  by properly training and conditioning their athletes. The National Strength and Conditioning Association developed the content for the course.
