Louisiana Youth Concussion Act

During the 2011 legislative session, ACT 314, “Louisiana Youth Concussion Act”, was signed into law by the governor.

The Department of Health and Hospitals is excited about the Louisiana Youth Concussion Act (ACT 314), which is aimed at helping coaches, parents, and athletes reduce the risk of sports-related concussion and head injury and creates a uniform education, training and return-to-play protocol for concussions in youth athletes, 7 through 18 years of age.

Visit www.lern.la.gov/concussions for your “one-stop-shop” for easy access to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s “Heads UP: Youth Sports Concussion” educational materials, trainings and forms which can be used by school administrators, coaches, volunteers, parents, and athletes to meet these new requirements.
