LHSAA Seeks Assistant Executive Director
The Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) has opened the search process for an administrative staff (exempt) position as Assistant Executive Director. Home base for this position will be the LHSAA office in Baton Rouge. Primary responsibilities shall be defined by the Executive Director and will include but not limited to:
1. Oversight/supervision of multiple sports as assigned by the Executive Director
2. Other duties assigned by the Executive Director
Experience and Qualifications: The Assistant Executive Director of the LHSAA shall have three (3) years’ experience as a school principal, seven (7) years’ experience as a faculty coach, five (5) years’ combined experience as a principal and school faculty coach or a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience as an assistant principal and seven (7) years as a faculty coach and has a Certified Athletic Administration (CAA) and/or Certified Masters Athletic Administration (CMAA) distinction from the National Interscholastic Athletic Administration Association (NIAAA), or any applicable experience approved by the Executive Director and Executive Committee. It is highly recommended that the applicant have a background and knowledge of high school athletics. Advanced degree and administrative experience is preferred. The position requires a person with:
- Passion and strong demonstrated advocacy for interscholastic athletics; familiarity with challenges facing high school athletics today in Louisiana and sensitive to and understanding of its diverse populations and interests;
- Outstanding personal and professional qualities, including high ethical standards, integrity, courage, energy and sensitivity;
- Ability to develop and maintain excellent relationships with students, school staff, parents, community groups and the media
- Organization management skills including ability to work on many tasks at one time; excellent communication skills (written, oral and listening) including the ability to make effective public presentations;
- Knowledge and validated experience in utilizing various types of technology
Terms: The Assistant Executive Director will be appointed for a term not to exceed one year. The renewed contractual agreement with the LHSAA shall be based upon a satisfactory yearly performance review conducted by the Executive Director and the results of which shall be reported to and received by the Executive Committee.
The Executive Director shall set the salary of the Assistant Executive Director with the LHSAA Budget’s and Finance Committee’s oversight. The position is a twelve-month position and the starting salary will be determined commensurate with experience and other related qualifications. See accompanying salary index. Note: With the enhancement of ACT 75 of the Constitution of Louisiana, anyone employed by the LHSAA on or after July 1, 2011 shall not be allowed to participate in the Teacher’s Retirement System of Louisiana.
