At the request of West Monroe High School, the 2013 LHSAA/LHSPLA (Louisiana High School Powerlifting Association) North Regional has been moved from West Monroe High School to Pineville High School. This requested move was based on the fact that West Monroe will be hosting the inaugural 2013 LHSAA/LHSPLA State Meet. Having two meets of this large size within in a three-week time period would be a great undertaking for any school. Pineville High School has hosted numerous invitational, regional and state meets for the LHSPLA, and should be a fine venue for the 2013 North Regional. As winner, Carrington will have her artwork featured on the cover of the Prep Classic souvenir program, which will be seen by thousands of football fans from across the state. In 2005, the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) initiated the Golden Torch Award, which recognizes a former high school student-athlete who serves as a role model for today’s student-athletes, and who went on to participate in athletics at the collegiate level. LHSAA member schools can submit the names of former student-athletes who have attended college and meet the criteria set forth for the Golden Torch Award. One nomination is allowed per school and the deadline for submitting nominations is Friday, November 30, 2012.
