The LHSAA Beyond the Game Program is having its third annual Sportsmanship essay contest. This is an opportunity for students at all of our member schools to get creative and to express in their own words what it means to be a good sportsman. The guidelines are simple, and your entries must be received by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 to be eligible to win. The contest is open to all students, ages 14 - 18, in grades 9-12 at LHSAA member schools. The HSPD Leadership Program, sponsored by the National Guard and the New Orleans Saints, is a one-day event comprised of activities in three different areas – the classroom, the community, and the leadership competitions. The classroom portion will be led by the NFL’s Player Engagement Department and will consist of intensive character development and life skills training. Participants will have the opportunity to give back to the community by volunteering at Second Harvest. The leadership competitions will consist of a series of hands-on exciting activities led by the Louisiana Army National Guard.
