Stay Connected to the LHSAA

Posted: 05-04-2012 | Categories: LHSCA, Parents & Students, All-Academic, All-Star

The Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) does its best to keep our student-athletes and parents informed and connected to our organization. In fact, our Student & Parents section of our website at http://www.lhsaa.org does just that! It’s a great tool for parents and children alike to keep abreast of the many programs available young athletes including scholarship opportunities, awards and more.

Because parents are typically the most significant and encouraging support group for our student-athletes as they mature and develop, it’s important for them to stay informed of what’s available for their children so that they get the most out of their interscholastic athletic experiences.

The Scholarships and Awards section of the website, which is located under Students & Parents, keeps parents and student-athletes informed of the many scholarship opportunities available for our athletes. This year, the LHSAA and its sponsors are offering 22 different scholarships valued at more than $35,000! In addition, this section contains information about many other scholarships and awards offered to student-athletes from other national organizations.

In the Students & Parents section of the LHSAA website, there are also many links to other important resources such as the FreeRecruitingWebinar.org, the All-Academic All-State Program and the Louisiana High School Coaches Association (LHSCA) All-Star Games.

FreeRecruitingWebinar.org
is a free, educational service that provides answers to common questions concerning the collegiate athletic recruiting process for high school student-athletes and their parents. It educates them about every aspect of athletic recruiting as well as collegiate academic eligibility and social responsibility as the various rules regarding recruiting and academic eligibility can become quite confusing and overwhelming.

The LHSAA and ExxonMobil have partnered with each other to create the All-Academic Program to recognize the academic excellence of senior student-athletes who have attained a 3.5 grade point average (GPA) or higher by placing them on the Composite All-Academic Team or Class All-Academic Team. For more information about this program, parents and students can visit the Students & Parents section of the website and click on All-Academic All-State Program.

The LHSCA All-Stars section of the website contains information to parents and student-athletes concerning LHSCA All-Star games. Each year, senior student-athletes have the ability to participate in all-star games in volleyball, football, girls’ and boys’ basketball, girls’ and boys’ soccer, baseball and softball. Nominations must be made by LHSCA member coaches.

Remember to check out our Students & Parents section of our website at www.lhsaa.org often as it’s constantly being updated with new and important information! We want our parents and student-athletes to take full advantage of the benefits available to our youth through high school sports.
